Zack’s Bio

Like many magicians of his generation, Zack Percell first became interested in magic after seeing David Copperfield perform on one of his annual TV specials in the early 80′s.  The following Christmas, Zack’s parents got him a magic set.  It was the greatest Christmas ever, as within a week, at age 7,  Zack was ready to perform for his 1st audience; His family.

After weeks of almost nightly performances, Zack finally stopped bugging his family with the same show.

He tried playing the drums.  He tried sports.  He was not good at any of it.

In 4th grade, a close friend of his had a crowd of kids around him at recess.  There was a lot of commotion and surprise.  Zack went over to see what was going on.  His friend, Peter, had the other kids in awe by showing them a magic trick.  He was putting a single playing card into a plastic box and making it vanish!  Zack was amazed too, and asked Peter how he did it.  Peter said he could not tell him how he did it, but he could tell him where he could get a magic box, just like it.

Peter told Zack that there was a magic shop in town called Magic Manor.  Zack was so excited that when his dad got home from work, he told him about the magic shop.  His dad knew exactly where it was.

Zack had a paper route.  It was his first job, at age 10.  He took the money he had recently collected, and went to visit Rich and Patty at the Magic Manor!

This became a weekly event for Zack, and within months, he was performing at his first birthday parties for friends!

He started to spend ALL of his paper route money on classes and lectures, as well as props from the Magic Manor.  Within a year, he was performing paying gigs at nursing homes and libraries.

Within 2 years, Zack was getting booked for local TV spots.

In 1990, Zack was in 8th grade and met Todd Ripplinger.  Todd was a 7th grader that was getting ready to do his first paying magic show.  The two were instant best friends and began writing duo material.  They were both big fans of Penn and Teller as well as Siegfried and Roy, so they figured that they could create another duo act.  (see The ‘T’ of TnZ Magic)

TnZ performed together all over the US and even Japan together until Todd went missing in 2003.

Since then, Zack has been performing solo, along with his girlfriend/assistant, Tina all over the Mid-West, and as far away as Holland and Egypt!

Nothing makes Zack happier than entertaining audiences that are big and small.  Hopefully he can entertain you, too!

Testimonials

We hired Zack to help with children’s entertainment for a program that my company hosted at the Best Western Clock Tower and Resort in Rockford, IL. Not only was Zack prompt in his arrival, but was also nice enough to continue entertaining the children past the time that he was required to when our program ran longer than expected.

Everyone that attended the magic show had an amazing time as Zack worked to include the children in his performance, teach them some of his tricks, (in a simple magic trick teaching session, after the show) and tailored the show in such a way that it was entertaining for ages 3-16. In fact, the children enjoyed Zack’s show so much that it was actually difficult to get them to leave and go back to the meeting room with their parents.

I would hire Zack again in an instant. His talent and professionalism exceeded our expectations and greatly helped our program run much more smooth than it otherwise would have.
