5th Entry 1-21-2013

In my last report I mentioned that I was working on what would be a potential game changer for TnZ Magic.  Well, I was really close to making it all happen, but ran into some issues in the last couple of months.  I have been attempting to resolve the issues I have had, but have not been completely successful.  I hope that I soon will be.  If I have not found a solution to my current problem very soon, then my plans may be pushed back a year.  This is okay, as there could be some benefit to that.  This would give me more time to prepare.

As for right now, I would like to let you in on a little more detail as to what I am talking about.  I have been in the process of putting together a running show in a small club type theatre.  This would not be in Rockford, or even in Illinois, for that matter, but my local friends and fans would possibly be able to still be a part of this journey.  If you would like to find out how you can help and be a part of this when the time comes, please email me directly, and you will be among the first to find out all of the details when they become available!     zack@tnzmagic.com

 

4th Entry 8-24-2012

It has been a GREAT summer for TnZ Magic!  I kept quite busy with festivals, company picnics, birthday parties for kids and adults, and much more!  A big thank you goes out to those of you who hired me and / or came out to see me perform!

One exciting thing about this summer is something that I am not exactly able to really talk about quite yet, however…  What I can say is that it would be a great idea to keep checking here for updates because I am currently working on something BIG!  Honestly, this is so big that is it ends up working out, it will be the biggest news TnZ Magic has had in….well….maybe ever!  I love percentages, and this is at about only a 30% chance of actually coming together, but if it does, you will be among the first to know what the heck I am talking about if you keep an eye on this website.

Well… here is the review from last night’s show:

I guess that really says it all!  I was VERY happy with this review and still feel I need some tweaking of my usage of the projector.  I am not certain that I even had it in perfect focus, but rather started it and hid behind the screen.

1st Entry: 5-6-2012

 It is not often that an idea can appear in the mind of a performer (a magician, in my case) and materialize in just a matter of weeks. I am very happy to say that I have accomplished just that!

 Usually, a new idea of any real magnitude is planned over weeks, and takes hundreds if not thousands of $ to test, then to finally actually put it in the act, it can all end up taking months if not years. Well, I am surprised at how quickly I have put this together, and as I begin to write this, after only about a month of planning, I am about 26 hours away from my first attempt!

 What am I blabbing about?

 Well, I am inspired by many different things, and always looking for ways to make the TnZ Magic show interesting and different. I have ALWAYS felt, from the beginning that the show does not start with my (or any performer’s) entrance, but rather from the time the audience starts to take their seats in the theater, or what ever venue it may be.

 This is why, while watching a presentation being given by a friend and business associate of mine, who has helped me in another amazing home-based business for the past several months (that anyone can be a part of and easily save and earn extra money/income) I began to think about how the tools he used in his presentation could create an entirely new dimension to the TnZ Magic show.

 The thought process began as he was showing an information video about the business we are in, using a digital video projector and projection screen. I had been thinking of using a new and different back- drop (often useful in magic shows to hide props, assistants, etc.) and thought that a projection screen seemed like it could be a simple set-up.

 The idea instantly came to mind that instead of just playing pre-show music before my shows, that it would be great if I could play pre-show video. I could play whatever I wanted, for the most part, as I have been editing my own demo videos for the past few years now.

 I started thinking of all of the things I could add to a pre-show video of about 30 minutes, and the wheels started turning. They only turned a little, because I figured that a projector would probably cost more than I wanted to put into something like that, in case it was too big and bulky, to make practical.

 I had only seen the projector that was about the size of an old VCR, and figured it had to be connected to a laptop computer, and would need a power cord, etc…. I did not think it would be practical to go through all of that for what it would be.

 Suddenly, I accidentally stumbled upon a device, while I was not even looking for a projector. I found that there are now mini LED pocket projectors that actually work from a small battery like you would find in a cell phone, and the device is as small or even smaller than a phone! It has built-in memory, and an SD card reader, so that it did not have to be connected to a computer or power source. It would fit in my pocket and would be able to connect to my table!

 It was a sign! I had to get it. I immediately started to compile video, trivia questions, and more…

 I love going to the movies, and thought that I could partially give my audiences the experience of going to see a modern day theater movie with previews, trivia, educational components, and yes, even some ads!

 I started with what I expect to be my longest video, and will make shorter versions from there.

By the time anyone sees this, I will have run my first test at a performance with a different 2 minute and 1 minute video at a custom performance I am giving tomorrow night (5-7-2012) for a special magic themed summer school recruiting event.

 I am looking very forward to seeing how this new idea creates a larger more interesting and exciting performance, even before my shows start!
